Shorthanded No-Limit Hold'em Shootout and Razz Events Conclude

Two new champions were crowned in last night’s action in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series VIII (FTOPS). Both tournaments had prize pools that went beyond the posted guarantees, and one event’s final table featured two red-named, Full Tilt-sponsored pros.

FTOPS VIII Event No. 17 — Shorthanded No-Limit Hold’em Shootout

Lee Watkinson cashes in the FTOPS VIII quad shootout eventT
he $200 buy-in sixhanded no-limit hold’em quadruple shootout event attracted almost enough entrants to reach its 1,296 cap with 1,294. The guarantee was $200,000, but the prize pool went well above that at $258,800. Players had to win four single-table tournaments to take down the first-place prize in the event.

Full Tilt-sponsored Markus Golser hosted the event and finished barely withing the 144 paying spots in 143rd. Red-named pros Lee Watkinson and Jon “PearlJammer” Turner were the only other two Full Tilt pros to make the money in the event, coming in 35th and 90th, respectively. Some other notables who cashed in the event included Andrew “TheActionKid” Glogowski, Todd “FLIMSIN” Lewis (aka koolkeith13), mossified84, Niels “TheMiltMan” Rikhof, all of whom made the semifinals.

OUSOONERS24 and rtkoss went heads up for the title in the event, and OUSOONERS24 outlasted his final foe to pocket the $45,000 first-place prize. OUSOONERS24 also earned an exclusive FTOPS jersey and jersey avatar for taking down the event.

The final results were:

  1. OUSOONERS24 — $45,290
  2. rtkoss — $28,468
  3. Capt_Klonk — $18,944
  4. poker4me123 — $12,940
  5. BotOFallBOTS — $9,058
  6. edub707 — $6,211

FTOPS VIII Event No. 18 — Razz

Marco Traniello made the final table of the FTOPS VIII razz eventThe final event of the night was the series’ only razz event. The tournament had a $300 buy-in and attracted 545 entrants, pushing the prize pool beyond the $150,000 guarantee to $163,500.

Berry Johnston, the host of the event, went out early on in the event, despite having started the FTOPS VIII with three cashes. Two red-named Full Tilt-sponsored pros made the final table of the event: Marco Traniello and Jens Voertmann. The two followed each other out the door, as Voertmann was the first player eliminated from the final table and Traniello busted right afterwards in eighth and seventh place, respectively. Other notable players to make the money in the event included rkruok, Matt “SamENole” Smith, red-named pro Thomas Bihl, WHENTHUGSCRY (aka PokerSavage1), Jon “shipitobv” Delong, and Kyle “Kcannon87” Cannon, among others.

Tridynamo and eagle1829 became the last two players standing in the tournament, and they were vying for a more than $13,000 difference between second place and the almost $39,000 first-place prize. Eagle1829 took down the final pot to soar to victory, earning the lion’s share of the cash, as well as the FTOPS champion’s jersey and jersey avatar.

The final results were:

  1. eagle1829 — $38,750
  2. Tridynamo — $25,670
  3. hulyefussz — $17,985
  4. mischiefofmagic — $11,118
  5. SCOOBY DOO 21 — $6,867
  6. UpTheMariners — $4,742
  7. Marco Traniello — $3,597
  8. Jens Voertmann — $2,453

Today features two FTOPS VIII events. The first is a no-limit hold’em event. It has a $200+$16 buy-in and a $350,000 guarantee. That event started at 2 p.m. ET. The second event is a sixhanded limit hold’em tournament, which has a $20+$16 buy-in and a $200,000 guarantee. That event starts at 9 p.m. ET. Satellites are currently running for all of the remaining events in the FTOPS VIII, and Card Player offers a Full Tilt deposit bonus to get players started. Card Player has made the full FTOPS VIII schedule available in an easy to read format.
