Main Event and Event No. 52 Preliminary Tournament Packages Up for Grabs

Getting a taste of the 2008 World Series of Poker might seem too out of reach for some, but CakePoker is providing plenty of ways for players to get a bite. The site is offering qualifiers and promotions for players to win a $12,000 main-event prize package that includes the $10,000 buy-in and $2,000 for travel and expenses, or a $2,000 package that includes the $1,500 buy-in for event No. 52, a no-limit hold’em tournament, and $500 for travel and expenses.

Cash Satellites

Every Sunday at 5 p.m. ET, a $200 buy-in qualifier runs that guarantees one $12,000 WSOP main-event prize package. There are plenty of qualifiers for cheaper, including a $33 buy-in tournament every Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

A $2,000 event No. 52 prize package is awarded every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. ET in a $10 rebuy tournament.

Gold Satellites

Every day, five Gold Chip rebuy tournaments run that award the top 10 players seats into the Sunday, 5 p.m. ET WSOP $12,000 package final. Gold Chips are earned by playing real-money tournaments and cash games.

CakePoker also knows what a grind satellites can be, so to reward its most frequent players, the site is awarding 50 World Series of Poker main-event prize packages as part of the Gold Card Daily Lottery promotion.

Gold Cards, which serve as the entry into the lottery, are awarded in any ring game. A random-number generator releases a Gold Card each time the table hits a certain amount of rake. Therefore, higher-stakes games will receive gold cards more frequently. If the gold card that is presented matches one of the player’s holecards during the hand it appeared, then that player will add it to his collection.

Every day at midnight ET, the CakePoker Rewards Lobby displays the winning lottery posting. It is valid for 24 hours, so players must redeem their prizes before the one-day period expires. In addition to main-event prize packages, the prizes include instant cash, which will be put directly into the player’s CakePoker account after confirmation, and tournament entries into the Gold Card Daily Lottery tournament, with guaranteed prize pools of up to $10,000. These tournaments run on the following schedule:

  • Sunday — 5:30 p.m. ET
  • Monday — 1:30 p.m. ET
  • Tuesday — 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Wednesday — 11:20 p.m. ET
  • Thursday — 4:30 p.m. ET
  • Friday — 8:30 p.m. ET
  • Saturday — 2:30 p.m. ET

Share Cake

In CakePoker’s ABC (Always Be Caking) promotion, a 2008 World Series of Poker $10,000 seat is up for grabs absolutely free. All players have to do is refer friends. Each “lead,” or new depositing player, referred is worth five points. Also, for every gold chip that that player earns, the one who referred him will get 15 points per chip.

To receive credit for leads, referrers must instruct leads or friends to enter in the referrer’s e-mail address during the signup process. Each first deposit by a referred player will also earn participants up to $100 in bonus cash using the Refer a Friend Match Bonus. Lead points can be earned only from players who make their first deposit within the three-month contest period. Leads must create a new account and make their first deposit before 4 a.m. ET May 31 to qualify for points.

Participants will earn 15 points every time one of their leads earns a gold chip. (Lead points cannot be earned for Gold Chips that are won in any of the Gold Chip Lover tournaments.) Tier-one referred players on the ShareCake program will only earn lead points.

Let Them Eat Cake ... for Charity

As a side note, CakePoker is also running a charity poker tournament tonight at 9:05 p.m. ET to benefit the Urban Health Institute. The buy-in is $6, ($5 for the charity and $1 for the prize pool). Players can find the tournament under the “Private” tab in the tournament lobby. The password is: UHI.

Players can take advantage of a special CakePoker deposit bonus from Card Player.
