His Fourth Final Table is the Charm

The Heartland Poker Tour celebrated a milestone yesterday when the last hand of its $2,000 event, held at Majestic Star Casino in Indiana, took place. With the conclusion of the event, which was won by James Mutchler, who won $180,000, more than $10 million has now been won through HPT events.

This was Multchler’s fourth final table. He won the HPT’s Player of the Year for 2007 by making three final tables, and this is his first win. With this win, he is also leading HPT’s POY race for 2008.James Mutchler

“This is so awesome” said Mutchler.  “I finally got the monkey off my back.”

With the victory, Mutchler, who works as a construction manager, also received entry into the $3,000 championship event to be held later this year. He has won $250,536 in HPT events since 2006.

The final table results were;

  1. James Mutchler -- Brighton, Colorado -- $180,030
  2. Judi Bilar, Homer Glen, Illinois -- $90,015
  3. Nicholas Woolworth, Plainfield, Illinois -- $54,009
  4. Jeff Boehm, Bloomington, Illinois -- $42,007
  5. Scott Rokita, Willowbrook, Illinois -- $36,006
  6. Frank Rusnak, Chicago, Illinois -- $30,005

A total of 311 players entered the event, and Majestic Star Casino processed 960 entries for qualifiers to the main event. The next HPT event takes place at Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan, May 5-11.
