In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Dan “jungleman12” Cates and Tom “durrrr” Dwan sat down on the virtual felt and recorded their longest session together in the nearly one-third completed Durrrr Challenge.
The duo battled on Full Tilt Poker for more than six hours, engaging in almost 3,000 hands of intense $200-$400 no-limit hold’em action. After the four-tabling session was over, Cates had added $318,000 to his lead, which now sits at $819,213 after 17,108 hands.

6 K board. Dwan’s 5 4 was no good against the J 2 of Cates when all the money went in on an inconsequential river card.
Combined with coming out on the right end of several other six-figure pots, Cates’ session is further continuation of his extended dominance in the high-stakes online world. Cates was the biggest winner in 2010, finishing in the black about $5.5 million.
This past week also featured IHateJuice winning nearly $300,000 from Patrik Antonius in a brief 70-hand session of $3,000-$6,000 limit-hold’em. Likely the most anticipated duel of the week was, however, the pairing of Team PokerStars Pro Isildur1 and Antanas “Tony G” Guoga across four tables of $50-$100 on PokerStars. After 2,500 hands of trash-talking action, Isildur1 was in the black more than $40,000 against the poker veteran from Lithuania.
Richard “Kpederson” Lyndaker versus Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer was another vicious match-up from the past seven days. At $200-$400 no-limit hold’em on Full Tilt Poker, Lyndaker dropped $540,000 to his high-stakes foe over the course of a couple separate sessions. Lyndaker, who is also known as “nutsinho” on PokerStars, wrote this in his blog after the defeat: “You probably won’t see me playing those stakes for a bit.”
