To the Editor:
I would like to congratulate Card Player magazine for taking a proactive stance on responsible gaming. While most players are able to gamble recreationally, a certain percentage nationwide suffers from a serious mental health disorder. By posting a link to the NCPG website, Card Player allows those who may have a problem with gambling to access a variety of resources, including our 24-hour nationwide confidential help line, online directory of gambling counselors, and additional information and referrals. The National Council is neutral, neither for nor against legalized gambling. The mission of the NCPG is to increase public awareness, ensure availability of treatment, and encourage research programs for problem gambling. Responsible gaming is good ethics, good policy, and good business.
Sincerely,
Keith Whyte
