If you divided all poker players in the world into winners and losers, you would find virtually no long-term loser who tracks results. That doesn't mean that all winners do track results, but it sure helps. Poker players ought to keep track of their results for two fundamental reasons: for tax purposes and for analytical purposes.
Years ago, we developed state-of-the-art tracking software called Card Player Analyst, "CPA," which accomplished those tasks quite well and was quite a good seller. In keeping with our web concept of having whatever poker players want and need – and providing if for free – we have taken things to the next level.
Our new version of the Poker Analyst is now web-based and available for free to everyone. It has the same excellent features of all diary-type tools with the additional flexibility of sorting in any manner desired. Furthermore, you can enter data with total privacy and security from any Internet site in the world.
CPA works for both live play and tournaments. Your only job is to easily enter data from a simple form, and at any time, decide what results you would like to see and how you would like them sorted.
THE INSIDE SCOOP
Just by being in the business, I frequently find information about what is happening in poker before it is public knowledge. Even though Card Player is published every two weeks, information is sometimes old news by the time the magazine hits the newsstands. Therefore, I recently decided to provide updates several times weekly about what is happening, for those who are interested. You will find these updates on my blog, "The Inside Scoop," on the home page of CardPlayer.com.
