Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort has finally finished its $75 million expansion project that began in 2011. The casino is located in Hogansburg, New York.
“We are excited to bring a resort property to Northern New York and we look forward to showcasing our hotel and spa throughout the region to promote entertainment and gaming,” said Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort CEO/General Manager and former Turning Stone Casino Executive Patrick Bassney.
An additional 40,000 foot gaming expansion was added, featuring a high-limit table game area as well the inclusion of a center bar. An RV park was added to accommodate trailers and campers. The casino also officially became a resort property with the completion of a 150-room hotel which includes banquet space, pool, hot tub, exercise room and spa.
Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort is owned by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of Akwesasne, NY.
Now, the casino offers more than 130,000 square feet of gaming with more than 2,000 slot and video poker titles, a wide array of table games, including a live poker room.
The state of New York has tribal gaming, but the governor is looking at a measure that would allow three commercial casinos to be built somewhere upstate in the future. Such a move could have a big impact on the tribes.
