Nevada Poker Rooms Rake $8.57M In April

Revenue From Poker Nearly Unchanged Year-Over-Year

Six hundred and forty seven live poker tables across the state of Nevada and the WSOP online poker site raked a combined $8.57 million during the month of April, according to a report released Thursday by Silver State gaming regulators.

Nevada revenue reports don’t separate poker revenue between live and online.

The amount was 0.86-percent more than April 2015, which had 652 live poker tables.

There are 66 poker rooms in Nevada.

On or around the Las Vegas Strip there were 306 poker tables in April, and they accounted for roughly $5.3 million of the $8.57 million.

The Strip’s poker revenue fell a quarter of a percentage point during the month compared to April 2015. Here’s a look at Nevada’s poker revenue so far in 2016:

January: $9.5 million (2.85-percent decrease)
February: $8.98 million (5.44-percent increase)
March: $9.68 million (0.01-percent decrease)
April: $8.57 million (0.86-percent increase)

The poker rooms raked a little over $118 million in 2015, which was a 1.57-percent decline compared to 2014’s $119.9 million. Poker revenue was $123.9 million in 2013, the year in which the state saw its first online poker site.

The all-time high for Nevada poker was just under $168 million in 2007. Since that year, revenue has fallen year-over-year in all but one. The year 2013 had a 0.56-percent uptick compared to 2012.

The annual WSOP is set to begin in just a matter of days. Last year, all three months that included the WSOP saw year-over-year poker revenue gains.

June, the only full month of WSOP events, typically has rake between $15 million and $16 million. June 2015 saw poker revenue grow 5.44 percent to $15.84 million.
