At the Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, things are heating up for what promises to be one of the finest poker events of the year. Showdown at the Sands: The Million Dollar Deal Poker Tournament will bring a whole new world of high-stakes tournament action to Atlantic City. With a guaranteed first prize of $1 million, the tournament will attract some of the best players from around the world.
To get in on the action, players can compete in supersatellites that are already under way and will continue until Nov. 8. Then, from Nov. 13 to Nov. 21, the Sands will host daily tournaments in preparation for the big finale to be held Nov. 22-24. In the supersatellites, players compete in no-limit hold'em, seven-card stud, and Omaha eight-or-better, with one guaranteed $10,200 seat for each supersatellite winner.
Players who take advantage of the $10,700 "Business Person's Special" get a seat in the final tournament, three nights' deluxe accommodations, use of the Sands VIP Club, and a private dinner with Carl Icahn, owner of the Sands Casino Hotel.
With more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money, the Showdown at the Sands will be the largest guaranteed prize money tournament in the history of Atlantic City.
In addition to hosting the Showdown at the Sands poker tournament, the Sands offers great high-limit table games action with six-deck blackjack, single-zero roulette, and 10-times odds on craps. With a philosophy of making the Sands a haven for true gaming enthusiasts, some of its tables accept bets of up to $50,000.
The Copa Room recently hosted Frank Sinatra Jr. and Wynonna. In coming months, guests at the Sands will enjoy performances by Little Anthony and the Imperials, Sal Richards, Natalie Cole, and The Temptations.
Atlantic City's newest place to see and be seen is Swingers. This bar on the first floor of the casino has a two-story video screen, live entertainment, and a most creative specialty drink menu. And during football season, it features the NFL Sunday Ticket™ and drink specials on Sundays and Mondays.
The Sands boasts a collection of restaurants ranging from fine dining to quick snacks.
In Medici, an old-world Italian restaurant, guests are enticed by roasted garlic, fresh pasta, and an excellent fine wine selection.
Brighton Steakhouse features Zagat Award winning steaks, veal, and fresh seafood.
The Sands is also home to one of Atlantic City's most famous Sunday brunches. Rossi's presents an exceptional selection of gourmet treats for all appetites.
The Sands was home to such famous stars as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford. They made the Sands a hot spot for a superb gaming experience, peppered with class and style. In keeping with the spirit of the heydays of the Sands' past, it is creating history once again with the Showdown at the Sands: The Million Dollar Deal Poker Tournament
