Scott Bohlman built himself a stellar reputation as one of the strongest mixed game tournament players in poker. He’s made 19 final table appearances in World Series of Poker bracelet events since 2007, with only three of those coming in straight up no-limit hold’em events.
But there’s no denying that Bohlman’s skills stretch beyond the mixed game streets, especially after Friday. On the fourth day of a $2,000 no-limit hold’em event, the 48-year-old Illinois native won his second career WSOP bracelet. He earned $436,044, the largest cash of his life, as well as 1,620 Card Player Player of the Year points.
Bohlman outlasted a field of 1,692 entrants, and claimed the lion’s share of a $3,011,760 prize pool. Other notables who ran deep included 2015 WSOP main event champion Joe McKeehen (42nd), two-time bracelet winner Pete Chen (17th), two-time bracelet winner Jesse Lonis (15th), bracelet winner Brian Green (13th), and high-stakes regular Quan Zhou (4th).
At the start of day 4 of the tournament, only two players remained. Bohlman started off with the chip lead against Dusti Smith, and made a full house on the very first hand. Within 30 minutes, Bohlman rivered trip jacks with J♣ 5♦ to scoop a monster pot and take a 10-to-1 lead, and it was over in short order from there.

On the final hand, Bohlman held pocket sixes against Smith’s Q♠ 4♠. The A♥ 5♥ 2♦ flop brought Smith four additional outs, but the 2♠ turn and 6♣ river gave Bohlman a victory with the flourish of a full house.
“It feels good, I have never won a big field no-limit hold’em in 25 years,” Bohlman told PokerNews.
Another WSOP POY Contender
It’s been a strong couple of weeks for Bohlman at the start of the 2025 WSOP. Less than a week ago, Bohlman finished fourth in the $1,500 Dealers Choice event won by Benny Glaser. While Glaser has made himself an early frontrunner in the WSOP POY race, Bohlman has made himself a key figure to watch as well.
Bohlman’s previous bracelet victory came in 2018, when he won $122,138 in a $2,500 big bet mixed event.
