Punnat Punsri Captures Fourth Triton Poker Title

Thai Poker Pro Takes Down $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Event In Montenegro For $550,000 Payday

The 2025 Triton Poker Montenegro series is entering its final stretch, with the last four events on the schedule switching formats to pot-limit Omaha after the first 11 events were contested in no-limit hold’em.

The first PLO event wrapped up on Sunday, May 25 at the Maestral Resort Casino. Thailand’s Punnat Punsri emerged victorious from a field of 84 entries in the $25,000 six-max PLO affair, capturing his fourth Triton title and the top prize of $550,000.

The 32-year-old poker pro from Bangkok now boasts more than $24.5 million in career tournament earnings, giving him a massive $20 million lead over second-ranked Kannapong Thanarattrakul on the Thai all-time money list.

Punsri is now just the 10th player in Triton Poker history to have won four or more titles on the prestigious high-stakes tour. This was his first in PLO, with his previous victories being in the 2022 Triton Cyprus $100,000 NLH main event, the 2024 Triton Jeju $50,000 NLH, and the 2025 Triton Jeju $125,000 NLH. More than $20.7 million of his career tournament haul has come from his 28 in-the-money finishes at Triton stops.

While he was able to close out the victory, Punsri told Triton reporters that he still feels as though he is ‘dabbling’ in PLO.

“At the [final table] there were just some absolute world class players. I’m already super happy to be at the same table as them, not in terms of potentially winning, but seeing what they do in certain spots, trying to understand hand by hand why certain board textures functions in a certain way,” said Punsri to Triton commentator Henry Kilbane, a noted fan of PLO. “I felt as the tournament went on I understood it more and more. I obviously still have a lot to learn and hopefully this is the start of my interest in your favorite game.”

This win also came with 672 Card Player Player of the Year points for Punsri, enough to move him inside the top 40 in the 2025 POY standings presented by Coin Poker.

The 84-entry turnout for this event resulted in a prize pool of $2,100,000 that was paid out amongst the top 14 finishers. Plenty of high-stakes stars ran deep, including Stephen Chidwick (13th), Patrik Antonius (12th), Lautaro Guerra (11th), Artur Martirosian (9th), Daniel Dvoress (8th), and Jose Barbero (7th).

The official final table began with Punsri out in front of the remaining six contenders. Sean Rafael, fresh off of a PLO high roller win at the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo stop earlier this month, finished sixth for $125,000 when his top set lost out to a combo draw for Dirk Gerritse. Two-time Super High Roller Bowl champion Isaac Haxton soon followed, with his single-suited A-Q-J-2 with nut diamonds was unable to overcome the double-suited A-A-10-9 of Punsri, who flopped a straight and then rivered a higher one to secure the elimination. Haxton earned $161,000 for his firth-place showing, bringing his career earnings to more than $54.7 million in the process.

With that, Punsri took a sizable lead into four-handed action. Gerritse was the next to fall. The online high-stakes PLO cash-game regular known to many as ‘Venividi1993’ got the last of his stack in with a gutshot wheel draw facing an overpair of tens for Punsri after a nine-high flop. Punsri wound up dragging the pot with a set of tens in the end, narrowing the field to three in the process. Gerritse earned $201,000 for his first final-table finish in a Triton event.

Alex Foxen was left as the clear short stack after Gerritse’s departure. He got the last of his chips in with A-Q-10-5 rainbow facing the double-suited 9-7-5-3 of Punsri, which flopped two pair and backed into a heart flush to win the pot. Foxen earned $251,000 for his fifth cash of the series, which included a win in an early $25,000 no-limit hold’em event. The three-time bracelet winner is now situated near the very top of the POY standings for 2025.

Punsri sported a 7:1 chip lead over Martin Dam going into heads-up play. It didn’t take long for him to convert that lead into the title. In the final hand, Dam opened from the button with A♥K♣Q♣6♥ and Punsri three-bet with A♦Q♥8♦7♦. Dam three-bet shoved and Punsri made the call. The board came down J♣9♣6♠4♥8♠ and Punsri made a pair of eights to bring the event to a close. Dam, who won a PLO title at this same stop in 2024, earned $380,000 as the runner-up.
