Matthias Eibinger might just be the endboss of high-stakes turbo poker tournaments.
The 32-year-old Austrian professional player captured his fourth career Triton Poker title at the tour's latest stop on Montenegro, topping a field of 51 entries in the $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em turbo bounty quattro tournament to earn $531,000 and $360,000 in bounty payouts.
Three of Eibinger's four Triton triumphs have now come in the fast-paced format, having also taken down a pair of turbo events in the spring and fall Cyprus stops back in 2022. He told Triton reporters that he feels at home in the speedy format thanks to grinding online hyper turbos early in his poker career.
"Four time Triton champion feels obviously amazing, but the fact that I won three of them in turbos is the part that I actually enjoy the most," said Eibinger. "It's so fun. Whenever it's short, I enjoy it so much. And now three of my four titles are turbos. It's a good fit."
"I think it's not as simple as it looks," Eibinger offered when asked about the turbo format. "From outside, it seems 'Oh, this hand is a push, this hand is a fold.' It looks like limited options. But in reality, there are a lot of small details. You can play around with limps, what should you three-bet shove, it's very player dependent, also. So I would say the details make the difference, and that's why I feel extremely comfortable."
This victory makes Eibinger just the ninth player in Triton history to have won four or more titles. His lone non-turbo victory saw him take down the 2023 Triton Monte Carlo $125,000 main event for nearly $3.5 million. He now has more than $25 million in career earnings, with nearly $12.9 million coming from his 24 cashes in Triton events.
This single-day event paid out $2,550,000 in total prize money to the top eight finishers. Leonard Maue was knocked out on the money bubble by Wang Ye, who took the chip lead heading into the official final table with Eibinger sitting on the next-largest stack. Eibinger soon added to his stack by knocking out Ren Lin (8th - $71,000). Kristen Foxen was the next to fall. The five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner A-K was unable to hold against the Q-J of her fellow Canadian Daniel Dvoress. She earned $90,000 as the seventh-place finisher, extending her advantage as the women's all-time money leader with $12.3 million in career earnings.

Bracelet winner Eelis Parssinen lost a flip with pocket sixes against the 10-9 suited of Wang to hit the rail in sixth place ($113,000). The Finnish PLO expert also secured $60,000 in bounty payouts. Wang followed that up by knocking out Talal Shakerchi (5th - $145,000), but soon saw his stack take a hit via double-ups for two short stacks.
Recent European Poker Tour Monte Carlo main event final tablist Jamil Wakil made headlines for being on the losing end of a controversial hand in that event. Wakil secured his second final-table finish of the series, placing fourth for $188,000 and $60,000 in bounties. He lost the majority of his stack running A-2 suited into the pocket kings of Dvoress to be left on fumes, and was heading to the payout desk soon after that key clash.
Wakil's final hand also spelled the end of Dvoress' run. The chips went in with Wakil holding a gutshot straight draw, while Dvoress had top pair of nines. Eibinger came along with middle pair and scored the double knockout when he rivered jacks up to secure the pot. Dvoress was awarded $248,000 and $120,000 in bounties for his efforts. The two-time bracelet winner now sports tournament earnings of more than $45 million.
Heads-up play began with Eibinger holding 64 big blinds to Wang's 17. The final hand saw Wang take a stand with 6♠5♠ against the K♦3♥ of Eibinger. The board kept Eibinger ahead and Wang settled for $384,000 with $180,000 in bounties as the runner-up.
