‘godfromstock’ Leads CoinPoker PLO Cash Game World Championship

CoinPoker’s pot-limit Omaha Cash Game World Championship is about halfway through the competition and ‘godfromstock’ leads the way.

The contest kicked off on Oct. 6 and runs through Nov. 2. The top five finishers will leave with additional prizes. The winner walks away with a Rolex worth $15,000 and the subsequent four spots earn $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, and $2,000, respectively.

It’s the third edition of CoinPoker’s CGWC, but it’s the first pot-limit Omaha competition. The first two were both no-limit hold’em competition.

As part of the promotion, CoinPoker is operating rake-free tables for those participating. In all, CoinPoker will award more than $55,000 in total prizes.

‘godfromstock’ Pacing The field

The aforementioned anonymous grinder leads the way and is the only player with more than 10,000 points. He’s also the most profitable player in the top 10, winning $83,426.76.

‘Buffalo888’ is the only player with more winnings, with $102,738 worth of profit. He is on quite the sun run with a six-figure profit and an all-in EV of just $35,115.99. But since the contest awards points based on expected winnings, Buffalo888 is in 17th place.

To nobody’s surprise, online legend ‘venividi1993,’ Dirk Gerritse, is in second place with 9,060.20 points. Gerritse has about a 900-point cushion over third-place and 1,700 points behind the leader. However, Gerritse has the high-stakes online poker experience to turn the competition on its head.

One of the unluckiest player in the field is ‘cumicon.’ His adjusted all-in EV is $65,375 through 23,745 hands. But his results are in the red, down nearly $11,000.

‘KaskaGrrossa’ is the outlier in the field in seventh place. He’s played just 6,054 hands, less than half of anyone else in the top 10. He’s running well below expectation with $27,746 in profit, but an EV of $55,568.

On the other hand, ‘SoyBoy2023’ is in eighth place after playing 72,687 hands. It’s by far the most hands played by anyone near the top of the leaderboard. ‘TonyGonyourBike’ played 77,120 hands, but is in 55th place and is down $9,643. Soyboy2023 profited nearly $20,000.

Lastly, the most upside-down player on the leaderboard is ‘lmf42.’ The player sits in 28th place with 3,046 points and played 46,402 hands, good for the top 5% for volume. He is in the red $34,439, while his EV was $21,539.29.

Cash Game World Championship Details

All competitors get a one-month PLO Genius PRO package once they play 10,000 hands. The top-five finishers earn year-long subscriptions. Viewers of the competition can also earn a one-month subscription to PRO by watching the CGWC streams on YouTube.

Leaderboard points are awarded based on the expected value of big blinds won. Thus, the competition removes some of the variance of the action-packed game. Games are six-max PLO with 100-big blind buy-ins and the winner of every pot has their cards shown regardless of street.

Games run at the $2.50-$5 and $10-$20 stakes. Heads-up action will not count towards leaderboard points.

• 1 EV BB at $500 PLO = 1 leaderboard point
• 1 EV BB at $2,000 PLO = 2.5 leaderboard points

Each Sunday during the promotion, a $5,000 weekly VIP game runs with two VIPs and five qualifying contestants. The five seats are awarded to one player in each category:

• Coolest hand played (based on a weekly fan vote on social media)
• Biggest loser on the week
• Player who is the most under $EV
• Most hands played
• Highest VPIP percentage during six-handed play (2,000 hand-minimum)
