The first day of the CoinPoker PLO Cash Game World Championship brough poker players out of the woodworks. There was tons of action for the kickoff of the unique competition.
As a result, there were a combined 60 tables of cash games between the eligible $2-$5 and $10-$20 pot-limit Omaha games. That amount of volume is rarely seen at these stakes.
In fact, the commentary duo for the CoinPoker Day 1 highlight video said they haven’t seen this many games at these stakes since the pre-Black Friday era of online poker.
Additionally, the contest brought out some of the best players in the world to compete on the virtual felt. Fernando ‘JNandez’ Habegger, Dirk ‘venividi1993’ Gerritse, and the unknown player dubbed ‘QueTalMuyBien’ all were in the mix.
Everyone knows Habegger and Gerritse are high-stakes regulars, but QueTalMuyBien is also willing to gamble for large numbers. He battled, and lost to ‘KraciFisk’ last weekend at $50-$100 and $100-$200 pot-limit Omaha.

PLO Cash Game World Championship Details
CoinPoker’s pot-limit Omaha cash game promotion kicked off on Oct. 6 and runs through Nov. 2. Players who wish to participate can play stakes of either $2-$5 or $10-$20.
As part of the competition, CoinPoker is running these designated tables rake free and the site creates a leaderboard for the event based expected value of how many big blinds each player would win. In other words, money changes hands, but the leaderboard is not based on how much money each player should’ve won.
However, players grinding in the higher-stakes games get an added multiplier. For each EV BB won at the $500 buy-in tables, the player will receive one point. But for each EV BB won at the $2,000 buy-in level, the player will receive 2.5 points.
Thus, players who compete at the higher stakes have a better chance of taking home some of the cash and prizes. The player who finishes at the top of the leaderboard will win a Rolex watch valued at $15,000.
Players can also qualify for a weekly $5,000 PLO game with two specially selected VIPs each Sunday. Five other players can get a seat in the game by winning one of the following weekly categories:
- Coolest hand played (based on a weekly fan vote on X/Twitter showcasing the top four hands of the competition from the previous week)
- Most money lost
- The player who ran the furthest below $EV
- Most hands played
- Highest VPIP% when the player is six-handed (players must play a minimum of 2,000 hands that week to qualify)
