PokerStars.com has stepped in at the last minute to sponsor this weekend‘s Wembly Masters snooker tournament in London after Matchroom Sport supremo and World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn brokered a one-year deal.
“Pokerstars are a major company and the biggest online operator in the poker industry,“ Hearn told the UK’s Daily Telegraph.
“It’s potentially a good partnership for World Snooker, and although it’s only a one-year deal, we’ve got a credible brand name on board.”
Last year PokerStars inked a deal with England’s Rugby Football Union as its official gaming partner.
