The first One Way Poker event was held in the Aspers Casino, Swansea in England, and found its champion in the shape of 22-year-old local, Jonathon Wilcox.
With a buy-in of £125, and 115 players on the day, the new poker room on the iPoker network, One Way Poker, added more than $12,000 to bring the prize pool up to $26,500.
The players who made it to the final table were:
Mathew Jones
Neil Slaughter
Allan Vaughan
James Janes
Henry Davies
Robert Lewis
Huw Smith
Jonathon Wilcox
With the top 15 paid, it was Jonathon Wilcox and Neil Slaughter who took the healthier portions after battling each other heads up. In the last hand, Wilcox limped from the small blind, and Slaughter shoved all in. Wilcox insta-called, revealing pocket aces, whereas Slaughter was not in great shape with 10-8. The flop fell Q-Q-3, and Slaughter now needed runner-runner. It was all over when a five came on the turn and Wilcox was crowned the champion.
The top two payouts were:
First place: Jonathan Wilcox — Ford KA Zetec $17,000
Second place: Neil Slaughter — $1800 (GUKPT package)
Nicky Romanello, One Way Poker Director said, “We are delighted with the success of our first live event; we have plans to host more in Cardiff and Newcastle throughout the summer.”
To celebrate the launch of the poker room, OneWayPoker.com is currently giving away two live packages; a $5,000 World Series of Poker package, and an $1,800 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour package. This promotion will run until Mon., Jun. 14.
