Kid Poker is becoming a father.
Seven-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu announced on Thursday that he and wife Amanda were expecting a baby.
The news came via his annual WSOP vlog and began with Negreanu sitting on the couch reading a book. His casual reading was revealed to be “The New Father: A Dad’s Guide to the First Year.” The video includes an ultrasound of the forthcoming newest addition to the Negreanu family.
Negreanu said the couple was 15 weeks along in the pregnancy via a surrogate and were delighted to be having their first child. He later revealed that they were having a boy.

“We are expecting a late November baby,” Negreanu said. He added: “The last year or two, randomly in our life, we’ve sort of set ourselves up for parenthood that we didn’t have before.”
The 51-year-old poker pro said the couple had made some changes over the last year that included adjusting schedules to wake up earlier and get to sleep earlier as well, much-needed for new parents. Both of the Negreanus were all smiles during the announcement.
“We were already moving that direction … and I think it’s time,” Daniel said. “I think we’re officially ready.”
Amanda added: “We’ve been doing this for a long time, trying for a long time.”
The Poker Hall of Famer said the new baby could be hefty. He said he weighed 10 pounds, 6 ounces at birth, and his brother weighed 9 pounds, 8 ounces.
No word when Negreanu plans on teaching the young lad how to play poker. However, he said he was already purchasing golf clubs for the new addition.
“This is going to be the best Christmas because it’s my favorite time of the year and there’s a baby,” Amanda said.

In other Negreanu news, the poker player signed a deal with the prediction market firm Kalshi in September. He hopes to push the company into offering more event contracts on poker in the future.
In March, he and Gus Hansen offered a breakdown of an iconic hand between the two on High Stakes Poker in 2006.
In 2024, Negreanu took down the $50,000 Poker Players Championship at the WSOP for bracelet No. 7 and $1.2 million after years of close calls. He was happy to finally add some more WSOP hardware.
“This is the tournament,” Negreanu said. “This is the one where all the best players show up. The structures are very long. It’s a real grind and to stay, meant to be sharp for five days. When you win this tournament, you earn it, and there’s no fluking the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.”
