Antonius Takes Lead in High-Stakes Poker Durrrr Challenge

The Players Put in a 2,043-Hand Session

Patrik AntoniusThe Durrrr Challenge may have slowed down a bit the past couple weeks, but the players did their best to revive the sluggish start with an epic 2,043-hand session over the course of eight hours.

Tom Dwan (pictured below right) came into the day with a slight lead of about $30,000 in the match with Patrick Antonius (pictured left), but put it on the line when he decided not only to four-table in the challenge, but play three others tables against the likes of Gus Hansen and LuckExpress.

Tom 'durrrr' DwanThe end result wasn’t good for Dwan, as he surrendered approximately $110,000 to Antonius by the end of the session. Antonius now has a lead of $80,707 about one-fifth of the way through the competition.

On the biggest hand of the session, Antonius raised on the button to $1,200, and Dwan reraised to $3,600 from the big blind. Antonius then reraised to $10,800, and Dwan made the call. The flop came out J 7 5, and Dwan checked. Antonius bet $21,600, and Dwan put him all in for his last $45,092. Antonius made the call and showed K K 10 10 for an overpair, but he was behind to Dwan’s A J 8 7 for top two pair. The turn and river came 4 and 4, however, to counterfeit Dwan and ship the $155,000 pot to Antonius.

The two opponents have now played a total of 9,290 hands and for a total of 29 hours over the course of seven different sessions. Incredibly, these two players have wagered over $53 million during the challenge but are still separated by only five figures.
