PokerStars Sends Record Numbers to EPT San Remo

A New Record of Over 200 Players Have Already Qualified for European Poker Tour San Remo

More than 200 players have qualified for the upcoming European Poker Tour San Remo on PokerStars.com, beating the record of EPT San Remo 2008 winner Jason Mercieraround 150 who played last month’s EPT Dortmund.

The event, taking place at Casino San Remo from Apr. 18 to 23, precedes the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final which last year saw 22-year-old Canadian Glen Chorny take down the €2 million top prize.

Last year, the first time an EPT had been held in Italy, the main event attracted a staggering 701 players.  It was won by Jason Mercier from Florida who won the €869,000 first prize. This year the €5,000 buy in main event is expected to reach the cap of 800.

Players already signed up for the event include current world champion Peter Eastgate and former world champion Greg Raymer, Lee Nelson, Dario Minieri, Luca Pagano, Alex Kravchenko, Katja Thater, Marcin Horecki, Noah Boeken, William Thorson, Ivan Demidov, Johnny Lodden, Tom McEvoy, Bill Chen, and Gualter Salles.

PokerStars recenly launched real money online poker games into the Italian market.
