Norwegian Wins Latin American Poker Tour

Twenty-Year-Old Karl Hevroy from Norway wins $283,500 in Punta del Este

Punta del Este resortKarl Hevroy, a 20-year-old Norwegian, has won the PokerStars.com Latin American Poker Tour Punta del Este, Uruguay beating 326 opponents to lift the $283,000 top prize in Uruguay. The US$3,700 buy in event created a prize pool of over $1 million and Hevroy eliminated five of his final table challengers.

The heads-up match saw Hevroy take a strong chip lead (three million) into the final against local player  Alejandro De Arruabarrena (543,000). In the first hand of heads-up play, Arruabarrena limped into a pot from the small blind and Hevroy checked. The flop was dealt 998 and Hevroy checked. Arruabarrena bet 70,000 and Hevroy made the call. The turn fell 4h, Hevroy checked again, and Arruabarrena bet 100,000. Hevroy check-raised all in and Arruabarrena called all in. Hevory turned over 98 for a full house, Arruabarrena showed down QJ, and the tournament title went to Hevroy after an inconsequential four fell on the river.

Hevroy lifted $283,500 for first place and Arruabarrena took home $155,240 for the runner-up finish. The tour rolls into Mar Del Plata, Argentina for the final time in season two from April 14 to 19.
