Karl Hevroy, a 20-year-old Norwegian, has won the PokerStars.com Latin American Poker Tour Punta del Este, Uruguay beating 326 opponents to lift the $283,000 top prize in Uruguay. The US$3,700 buy in event created a prize pool of over $1 million and Hevroy eliminated five of his final table challengers.
The heads-up match saw Hevroy take a strong chip lead (three million) into the final against local player Alejandro De Arruabarrena (543,000). In the first hand of heads-up play, Arruabarrena limped into a pot from the small blind and Hevroy checked. The flop was dealt 9
