Irish Open Attracts Poker's Big Names This April

Phil Laak and Neil Channing Return, as do Locals Marty Smyth and Ciaran O'Leary


Paddypowerpoker.com today announced some of the big names set to return to the felt at the Irish Open 2009. Phil LaakPhil “The Unabomber " Laak  returns to the Emerald Isle, having played with partner Jennifer Tilly in 2007.

Last year’s winner Neil Channing will return to defend his title and pot-Limit Omaha World Champion Marty Smyth, who won the event in 2007, will also be back to take another shot at the title.

The €3,200 + €300 no-limit hold’em tournament  takes place from April 9 to 13, 2009 and is one of the must-attend event on the international poker calendar.

As the Irish Open preparation ramps up, PaddyPowerPoker.com are running weekly Irish Open ticket-only satellites every Thursday evening at 8:05 p.m. with at minimum of two tickets worth $4,700 ticket, offered  each week. Players can qualify daily for the Thursday satellite for as little as $2.20.

The number of Irish Open packages, worth $6,500, awarded in the existing Sunday and Tuesday satellites is growing week-by-week as players scramble and to get to into not only the tournament but also the Sole Survivor competition which will see the qualifier lasting longest in the tournament get a $100,000 sponsorship deal for a year.
