The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California first hosted the Winnin’ O’ the Green tournament series in 1984, and 25 years later the tournament is still going strong. The 2009 edition began on Thursday, Mar. 5 with a $300 no-limit hold’em tournament. The series will feature 16 events between now and Sunday, Mar. 22. Tournaments will be spread limit and no-limit hold’em, seven-card stud eight-or-better, Omaha eight-or-better, and H.O.R.S.E.
Card Player Player of the Year points will be up for grabs in 11 of the 16 events this year. The series will feature a pair of ladies no-limit hold’em events on Mar. 8 and 15. Mega super satellites will run on Friday, Mar. 13 at 7 p.m. and Mar. 18 and 19 at 4 p.m. The $300 no-limit hold’em event on Sunday, Mar. 8 has a guaranteed prize pool worth $100,000 and the $300 no-limit hold’em event on Wednesday, Mar. 11 has a guaranteed prize pool worth $50,000. The tournament series $1,500 no-limit hold’em championship will begin on Friday, Mar. 20 and crown a champion the following night.
