Analyst Expects U.S. Legal Shift for Poker

U.S. Poker Companies Settlements Expected for H1 2009

Barney FrankAnalyst Daniel Stewart today reported that U.S Department of Justice settlements are expected for poker companies in the first half of 2009.

This statement comes amid rumours which emerged concerning the re-introduction of online gambling legislation to the House of Congress. The man responsible for this is Massachusetts Democrat Representative, Barney Frank.

Previous to this, Frank’s “Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act” and “Payments System Protection Act” failed to make it through the House of Congress. However, things now look more optimistic for this new legislation with the greater Democratic presence in both houses, and the demand for U.S. tax revenue.

Daniel Stewart’s report also names the likely beneficiaries of eventual regulation, with references to companies such as PartyGaming, Playtech, bwin Holdings, and Sporting Bet.

Whatever happens, the company said, it will be quite some time before full regulation is realised.
