UltimateBet Begins World Series of Poker Qualifiers

Site Will Award $10 million if Qualifier Wins Main Event

Ultimate BetTen cents. That’s all you need to enter UltimateBet’s Step 1 qualifier to the World Series of Poker main event.

The popular online poker site recently announced that it has begun running WSOP satellites, one of the first of the major poker sites to start qualifiers for the main event, which will commence at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on July 3.

UltimateBet has also announced that it will award an extra $10 million sponsorship deal to any UltimateBet Steps winner who wades his or her way through the massive field and wins the world championship. Last year, Peter Eastgate replaced UltimateBet pro Phil Hellmuth as the youngest person to ever win the main event, collecting more than $9.1 million for his performance.

That means an UltimateBet qualifier could theoretically get close to $20 million if he takes down the big prize.

UltimateBet, as well as its sister site Absolute Poker, is running steps qualifiers, meaning a player must win his sit-and-go before moving on to the next round. There are 10 steps in all.

A player is allowed to buy directly into any step of his choice, although the $10 million promotion is only eligible to players who started at Step 1. The first 10 players who start at Step 1 and go the distance to win a WSOP entry will also win a $7,500 prize package to the UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic.

“Step tournaments will see UB qualifying record numbers of online players for this year’s WSOP,” said Annie Duke, poker pro and UltimateBet’s tournament designer. “With our $10 million player contract on the table, we’re excited about the prospect of discovering poker’s next big thing.”
