Day 3 of PartyPoker.com Premier League III heats saw Peter Eastgate and Phil Hellmuth take revenge for their previous results by slaughtering the competition and taking down 10 points each.
Heat 5 got down to the nitty gritty in no time, and J.C. Tran and Eastgate found themselves heads up with the blinds only at 2,000/4,000. Tran, who has floored the competition so far in the event, began the battle in the face of Eastgate’s monsterous 9-to-1 chip lead, and amazingly took possession of it.
Eastgate was out for justice however after his defeat by Tran on day 1 and so eventually knocked the PKR representative out after an all-in with K-3 and a call from Tran with A-7. The Danish World Series bracelet holder hit his king on the flop and stole the 10 points away from Tran, who had to settle for 6.
Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott’s luck so far in the League has been nothing to write home about. The person who sent him packing in this heat was Tom Dwan. Dwan raised to 10,000 with Q-7 and Ulliott called with K-Q. The flop fell K-7-7, and with a queen on the river the chips were all-in and Ulliott was out.
The two who lasted the longest in heat 6 were Hellmuth and Roland De Wolfe. Hellmuth kept at de Wolfe little by little, and was eventually lucky that his K-10 hit a king on the river when all-in against de Wolfe’s A-Q.

JC Tran is by far the king of the castle and appears to be a sure bet to qualify for Sunday’s final table.
