Irish Finance Minister, Brian Lenihan, has decided to give the online gambling industry at least one more year as a tax free industry.
In yesterday’s Finance Bill the minister said he was delaying major changes to betting duty in order to further study the online betting sector and would not extend the 2 percent betting tax which is applicable to high-street bookmakers to online gambling companies.
The Irish government is currently considering the regulatory environment within which casinos and online gambling companies exist.
