The third PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Polish Open got underway yesterday at Casinos Poland, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Warsaw with 99 players taking to the felt in this PLN20,000 (approximately $6,744) event. The small field reflected the fact that the Amsterdam Master Classics and Belgium Poker Championship overlapped with the event but a much larger field of up to 200 is expected for day 1b today.
Among those who succesfully battled through the field were Gavin Griffin, Alan Smurfit, Johnny Lodden, and Arnaud Mattern. Frenchman Antony Lellouche knocked the first player out of the tournament after four minutes and this remined
at the top of the pile until the end of play.
The top ten in chips at the end of play were:

- Atanas Stoyanov Gueorguiev (Bulgaria) — 31,975
- Moises Parrilla Ramos (Spain) — 30,650
- Nico Behling (Denmark) — 28,375
Among those to bust from the tournament on day 1a were William Fry, Richard Sousa, and Albert Iversen. Play ended with 53 players.
Today will seem a swathe of PokerStars.com pros take part in the event including Humberto Brenes, Luca Pagano, Katja Thater, Dario Minieri, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, and Isabelle Mercier.
