Poker and Sports Stars Set For Irish Poker Festival

Omaha World Champion Marty Smyth Confirms; Snooker Legends Steve Davis and Mark Williams Likely


The €250,000 guaranteed LadbrokesPoker.com Irish Poker Festival taking place in Killarney, Ireland from Oct. 2 to 5, 2008 will see recent World Series of Poker Pot-Limit Omaha World Champion Marty Smyth take on former World Marty SmythSnooker Champions Steve Davis and Mark Williams who hope to return from the China Open to take part.

Smyth, who started his poker career at Ladbrokes Poker and plays under the name “Macedonia’ will be joined in the €500 main event by colourful At The Race presenter Matt Chapman. While Smyth will undoubtedly be favourite for the event Chapman will unfortunately be found at the other end of the betting market.

The event is set to attract a field of  600 of Europe’s top poker players aficionados to the Gleneagles INEC Hotel, Killarney.  And players can qualify for the event every Monday at 7.30 p.m. (GMT) at Ladbrokes Poker in $137.50 weekly satellite finals.  Those with a lower bankroll can qualify for as little as $5 in the daily satellites into the weekly finals with a buy in of $33 on Tuesday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
