The 2008 World Series of Poker The final World Series $40K Giveaway tournament was held on June 29, and the last two World Series seats were awarded. David “ dkhunky” Kim and Michael “fugetaboutit” Pontorno will be joining Charles “labatomy” Goodwin and Ken “Handbone” Meyer at the 2008 World Series of Poker* in Las Vegas, Nevada. The four World Series $40K Giveaway champions are enthusiastic and ready to represent the entire SpadeClub community at the World Series.

Here’s a final-table recap from SpadeClub’s own SCKenny:

Kim and Pontorno were the final two players out of the 1,439 entrants in an exciting eight-hour tournament. The final table lasted for more than an hour, and fugetaboutit had a big chip lead going in, but he but took a few bad beats. In one particularly key hand, dkhunky needed two running cards and hit a runner-runner straight to stay alive when the action was three-handed. After getting down in chips and then back up, dkhunky took the lead to snag one of the two World Series main event seats.

The final results were:

  1. dkhunky — $12,000 World Series prize package
  2. fugetaboutit — $12,000 World Series prize package
  3. TxN42090 — $3,500
  4. FrankieBRock — $2,250
  5. Gcooksds — $1,500
  6. GatorsDad — $1,000
  7. grightmer — $600
  8. kokopelli — $300
  9. creterunner — $180

Good luck to all four Exclusive SpadeClub members at the 2008 World Series of Poker*
