The 47-day rollercoaster, that is the World Series of Poker, will see many changes this year including a record high of
eight $10,000 World Championships and eight $5,000 championships. With 55 opportunities to win a bracelet, and more $1,500 and $10,000 events than ever before, it is sure to be as interesting as last year.
Players and spectators alike are eager to discover if the winning streak of amateurs at the Main Event will continue for a seventh year. As 87 countries were represented last year, another interesting aspect is the increase of international players at the event .
2007’s overseas presence culminated with three European players at the final table of the main event. England, Denmark, and Russia were represented by Jon Kalmar, Philip Hilm, and Alex Kravchenko respectively. Kravchenko topped the European poll when he cashed for $2,156,576.
The final nine players this year will have to wait until November 9 – due to new event formatting – to battle it out for the most coveted prize in poker. Until then, there will be plenty of action so log on to CardPlayer.com for all your WSOP updates.
