The fourth event on the Amateur Professional Poker Tour (APAT) has been won by Andrew Kingan of Wallasey, England. Kingan picked up €4,900 for his victory at the Poker Royale Casino in Vienna on Mar. 23. The £75 freezeout saw players start with 10,000 starting chips, a slow clock, plus a seat in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour main event on the line.
The event attracted 188 players and was the first APAT held outside the UK, and more than 70 players travelled from there to Austria.
The final table consisted of:
Seat 1: Stefan Platner (Graz) — 525,000
Seat 2: Martin Tu (Wiener Neustadt) — 264,000
Seat 3: Martin Kläser (Köln) — 226,000
Seat 4: Michael Strobl (Vienna) — 345,000
Seat 5: Milan Zaric (Vienna) — 135,000
Seat 6: Hendrik Kroll (Innsbruck) — 79,000
Seat 7: Sebastian Berres (Köln) — 134,000
Seat 8: Linda Iwaniak (Reading England) — 152,000
Seat 9: Andy Kingan (Wallasey England) — 105,000
Kingan ultimately faced Kroll heads-up with a 2-1 chip lead. This lead increased when he hit a turned full house, and the deciding hand saw Kingan come from behind when his 10-9 of hearts outdrew Kroll’s K-10 on the flop, and he was named European Amateur Poker Champion 2008.
