SpadeClub Poker: Randoman54's Tales From the Tables

SpadeClub Founding Member randoman54 Tells Card Player About His SpadeClub Experience

Randy 'randoman54' HolmgrenIf you play on SpadeClub, you are likely no stranger to Randy “randoman54” Holmgren. As a frequent SpadeClub blogger, randoman54 seems to be friends with everyone, as he is often encouraging his fellow club members and offering tips for improvement. One look at his profile, with badges displaying his 10 cash final tables, almost 20,000 hands played, and 175 bounties, and you can tell, randoman54 is a man to listen to. In this edition of Tales from the Tables, randoman54 shares with Card Player his thoughts and advice for SpadeClub:

“As an avid reader of Card Player magazine, I noticed an ad for spadeclub.com, a new poker website and community. The website is powered by Card Player so credibility is not an issue. SpadeClub was in the beta-testing mode when I joined, and as a part of the beta-testing program, I witnessed the development and birth of SpadeClub. The software is very user-friendly with features not available anywhere else, such as an odds calculator and a hand helper at your fingertips. There is also a player profile, a friends list, and the results of your last five tourneys always available. The good thing about this is that you can put as much or as little info as you want in your profile, and friends are there only if you want them. Your profile also displays the number of hands you’ve played, bounties, final tables, and first-place finishes in cash tournaments.

“What really impresses me the most is SpadeClub’s concept of money distribution. To be an Exclusive member, you pay a monthly fee of $19.99. That’s it, folks, a paltry $20 bill to play for $100,000 in prize money each month. There are two featured tournaments, the $5,000 weekly event, which is every Sunday at 4 p.m. ET, except for the first Sunday of each month, when the $40,000 Mega Monthly is held at that time. To get into these tourneys, you have to win a token. SpadeClub has $5K and $40K qualifiers every couple of hours, so you have many chances to earn your tokens. Every day there are seven or eight cash tourneys, with one of them being either $500 or $1000 in cash prizes.

“Now, here is the good part — no matter how many bad beats you take or how badly you play, you never lose anything! There’s no reloading your account because of a bad run of cards, you just play as much as you want for the whole month. You can also pay for the entire year to save a bunch of money off of the monthly cost. SpadeClub is a must for players who love poker but can’t afford any risk.

“Since the launch of SpadeClub on Feb. 11, I have played almost every day and have enjoyed the experience. The players are the most respectful and friendly that I have ever played with. I have made lots of friends already, and one thing is for certain, we all love our poker. SpadeClub is the best site in the world to work on your game. In addition to cash tournaments and qualifiers, hourly points tournaments offer an excellent time to try new moves and different styles of play, because everyone is trying hard to win those points. The players here are of all skill levels and seem to be improving every day. Your game will be challenged in every tournament you play.

“Thank you Card Player for coming up with this great concept for online poker. SpadeClub offers a laid-back place where I can enjoy the game of poker and realistically have a chance to make some good money without the risk of losing good money.”
