Sportingbet today published second-quarter figures for Paradise Poker, its online poker operation which is showing signs of recovery post-Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which forced them to exit the U.S. market in 2006.
Average daily rake at Paradise Poker was down 10.6 percent to £73,900 in the second half of 2008 from same period in 2007 (to end Jan). However, growth of 34 percent was recorded between the first-quarter period (August to October 2007) and the second-quarter period (November to January 2008).
Overall in the first half of 2008 (to the end of January) net revenue from poker was £6.8 million, down 11 percent from £7.6 million.
The parent company, Sportingbet, saw amounts wagered up 29.5 percent to £364.7 million and group operating profit up 275 percent to £7.5 million.
