Irish Poker Championship Freeroll This Weekend

Dublin Cardroom Hosts First PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship Freeroll on Saturday

A freeroll tournament for entry into the €2,000 PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship takes place this Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. at Cool Hand Lukes, 81 Merrion Square, Dublin.

Players can claim their seats in the 2008 IPC freeroll by registering for an account with PartyPoker and using the promotional code "IPCFREE." Players must ensure they complete registration up to and including the "enter your name/address" section.

The PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship is being held at the Radisson Hotel and Spa, Galway, Ireland, from Jan. 3-6, 2008.

The schedule for the event is:

  • Jan. 3 -- Supersatellite -- €200 + €20
  • Jan. 4 -- Main event day 1 -- €2,000 (9 percent withheld) no-limit hold'em freezeout
  • Jan. 5 -- Main event day 2 -- €2,000
  • Jan. 5 -- Supporting event -- €800 + €80 no-limit hold'em freezeout
  • Jan. 6 -- Main event day 3 -- €2,000
  • Jan. 6 -- Supporting event -- €400 + €40 no-limit hold'em freezeout

It is the first major sponsorship in Ireland by PartyPoker.com and is Europe's first major tournament of 2008. The €2,000 (9 percent withheld) buy-in is expected to attract up to 500 players from across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and the United States and will be recorded for six hour-long broadcasts on RTÉ, Ireland's national broadcaster, and distributed internationally.

Players can also qualify online with a $220 satellite taking place every Tuesday on PartyPoker.com. For every 25 players in the main satellite, one seat is provided. Qualification for the $5,000 package starts at $3.
