Poker cheat Ali Imsirovic was disqualified from a mid-stakes tournament Thursday evening.
Thursday was the first of three starting flights in the $1,200 no-limit hold’em RunGood Poker Series main event at bestbet Jacksonville.
Imsirovic was in the field and the chip leader heading to dinner break, with 30 players remaining from the 80-entry flight. However, when the players returned from dinner, Imsirovic’s stack was removed from play, and he was disqualified from the tournament.
It’s still unclear whether this decision was made by bestbet or the RunGood Poker Series. Card Player has reached out for comment from both parties and is awaiting a response.
While the motivation behind the move is still unknown, many are speculating that it stems from Imsirovic’s checkered past.
In 2022, Imsirovic was accused of cheating by several high-stakes poker pros. The claims included ghosting, multi-accounting and the use of real-time assistance.
As a result, the PokerGO Tour and the European Poker Tour banned Imsirovic from future events.
The following year, Imsirovic released a video in which he admitted to multi-accounting and said that GGPoker seized $320,000 from his online poker account.
Since the scandal, Imsirovic’s live results were limited to mostly World Series of Poker tournaments. But his three most recent cashes came last November and January at bestbet Jacksonville, including a third-place finish in a $2,600 no-limit hold’em six-max bounty prelim event during the property’s World Poker Tour stop.
In February, Imsirovic was booted from a tournament at Champions Club in Houston. It was the first time a specific venue banned the Bosnian pro.
