The 16th Master Classics of Poker takes place in the Holland Casino, Amsterdam, from Nov. 2-10 with the €5,000 main event – the Lido Poker Tournament – beginning on Wednesday, Nov.7. Holland Casino has already sold more than 2,000 tickets for the series of events, and the main event capacity has been increased to 400 players which, if reached, will create a prize pool of €2 million.
Last year's main-event winner, Alex Jalali of Germany, received €690,000.
Each player who makes the final table of the main event will receive free entry into the event in 2008.
If tickets for the main event are still available on Nov. 7, the casino will hold its spectacular 'one-hand satellites' beginning at 1:30 p.m. Ten players pay €510 each to play just one hand for a ticket into the main event.
The Master Classics of Poker consists of eight tournaments, including Omaha with buy-ins varying from €120 to €5,100. Tournaments start daily at 2 p.m., with the exception of the Lido Tournament, which starts at 3 p.m. More MCOP information can be found at www.masterclassicsofpoker.com.
