Online qualification for Simon Poker Day at the Dublin EPT takes place on four leading online sites this week with a variety of buy-ins and structures available to suit the pocketbooks of all players.
Last year, Simon Poker Day raised €50,000 for the Dublin homeless and attracted a field of more than 200 players for the €330 buy-in event, which was won by former world champion Noel Furlong. Of the €330 buy-in, €100 goes directly to the charity.
PokerStars.com is running a Dublin EPT satellite on Oct.10. It is an $11 rebuy with one seat guaranteed. As part of this tournament, PokerStars is donating $2 of every buy-in, rebuy, and add-on.
888. Com is running a $50 qualifier on Oct. 20 and have waived the registration fee. There is one seat for every 20 players ($1,000 package) with feeder satellites running daily. The tournament is restricted to UK and Ireland players only.
GreenJokerPoker.com has been running satellites for over a month. The remaining events are:
- Oct. 9 – $45 freezeout; one ticket guaranteed
- Oct. 16 – $20 rebuy; one ticket guaranteed
- Oct. 23 – $45 freezeout; one ticket guaranteed
- Oct. 30 – freeroll; 100 Joker Points for one package
Green Joker Poker is adding €100 to the charity donation for each online cash qualifier. Online qualifiers are for tickets only and do not include expenses. As an added bonus, online satellite winners will be invited to join Padraig Parkinson and friends for a night on the beer the night before the tournament, Nov. 2. Green Joker Poker is picking up the bar bill.
PaddyPowerPoker.com is hosting its remaining satellites on Oct. 14 and Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. They are $20 rebuy tournaments and the registration fees are being covered by Paddy Power Poker.
Poker Ireland also hosted satellites at its recent International Poker Open and the Merrion Casino Club will be running the event.
A host of star names from the worlds of entertainment and sports from across Europe will also attend, including snooker stars Ken Doherty and Steve Davis. In 2006, Simon Poker Day raised almost €50,000 for the homeless charity.
