In this new "Strip Poker" series, Card Player covers the Las Vegas poker scene – on the Strip and around the city.

The coupon tournaments take place every Wednesday and Sunday. To qualify for the Wednesday tournament, players must log at least six hours between 9 a.m. Tuesday and 5 p.m. Wednesday in a cash game. Six hours are also required to gain entry into the Sunday tournament, but they need to be logged between 9 a.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Regular cash games to choose from include $2-$4 and $4-$8 limit hold'em and $1-$2 no-limit hold'em.
Both freerolls run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on each respective day. What is different about these tournaments is that they are really cash games that feature tournament payouts, as well. Players who qualify for a tournament sit in a normal $2-$4 limit hold'em cash game, but in addition to winning (or losing) money through play, the goal is to accumulate coupons which are earned with every $30-plus pot won. The minimum buy-in is $30, and unlike a regular tournament, players can rebuy as many times as they would like. At the end of the designated three hours of play, the players are awarded tournament payouts in the order of most to least coupons.
The payouts for this freeroll are:
- $375
- $350
- $325
- $300
The remaining money in the prize pool is split among the other players. The hours earned for each "coupon" tournament can also count toward the weekly freeroll tournament that requires 15 hours of cash-game play. The weekly freeroll takes place every Tuesday at 7 p.m. The prize pool is $3,000 and is played in a freezeout style.
The payouts for this freezeout freeroll are:
- $800
- $500
- $250
- $150
A drawing for $150 also takes place before and after the tournament for all entrants. The extra money in the prize pool is given from fifth place down in $50 increments until the prize pool is depleted.
