BINGpoker held its first-ever $250,000-guaranteed tournament on Sunday, and the innovative blinds structure and deep stacks ensured that quite a bit of skill was needed to snag the top prize of almost $69,000.
BINGpoker, part of the International Poker Network, has a unique way of handling increasing blinds. The amount of time for each level of blinds increases during the final stages of the tournament, thus allowing for more play when the money is on the line. This type of blinds structure has been a recommendation of many top poker pros for some time, and BINGpoker is one of the first online poker sites to hold tournaments this way.
The innovative blinds structure was in place for the $250,000-guaranteed tournament, BINGpoker's biggest tournament ever, which lured 930 entrants. The entrants bought in for an equivalent of a little more than $300 (the buy-in was in euros), which brought the prize pool to more than $279,000.
The final table was over relatively quickly, with just 48 hands taking place between the 10th-place elimination and the final hand. When it got down to heads up, it was feccia2 and –SVINET– still in the race for the first-place prize. An almost $28,000 difference it payouts existed between first and second place. –SVINET– held the chip lead with 1.6 million in chips versus feccia2's 1.2 million. Feccia2 turned the tables and came into a commanding chip lead in a big hand.
–SVINET– limped preflop and feccia2 raised to 60,000. –SVINET– called and the flop came A J
9
. Feccia2 bet another 60,000 and –SVINET– called. The turn was the 3
and feccia2 checked. –SVINET– bet 180,000 and feccia2 called. The river was the 2
and feccia2 again checked. –SVINET– pushed all in for 900,000 and feccia2 quickly called and showed A
J
, and –SVINET– showed a bluff with K
10
.
Having been caught with his hand in the cookie jar, –SVINET– was left with less than 380,000 and feccia2 had 2.45 million, making for a chip lead of more than 5-1. Six hands later, –SVINET– was all in with two pair and feccia2 delivered the final blow when he showed a Broadway straight. –SVINET– collected $40,542 for second place and feccia2 pocketed $68,502 for his first-place finish.
The final results were:
- feccia2 – $68,502
- –SVINET– – $40,542
- mercury76 – $25,164
- Laddys – $18,174
- wanabe * – $15,098.40
