John Duthie, head of the European Poker Tour sponsored by www.pokerstars.com, today announced a new tournament on the tour at a press conference for the first EPT date of the season in Barcelona.
"We're having a tournament in San Remo, Italy from April 1 to 5," he said. "We'll be getting details up on the website as soon as we get things confirmed after Barcelona."
This is the first Italian date on the tour but Duthie was quick to quash speculation that more dates could be added. "It's unlikely," he said. 'We've added three new dates to the Tour already and unless some opportunity pops up that is too good to pass, we won't be adding any more."
This year the EPT has added stops in the Caribbean, Warsaw, and Prague, bringing the number of tournaments on the circuit , including San Remo, to 12.
Duthie also spoke about the increased buy-ins for the EPT this year. "I didn't want to increase them," he expalined, "but we just don't have the room for bigger fields and we don't really want to add more day ones as seven-day tournaments are unpopular among players so we really had no other option."
