Full Tilt Online Poker Series V Kicks Off

Kadabra Wins First Event

Full Tilt kicked off its fifth edition of the popular Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Wednesday night, with its first event , $200+$16 no-limit hold'em. The event was hosted by Full Tilt team member and poker commentator Phil Gordon. It attracted a field of 4,165 players, pushing the prize pool $330,000 over the $500,000 guarantee. The total pool of $833,000 created a top prize of $147,099.47.

A player under the screen name Kadabra took down the first prize money in the tournament. Kadabra had only one previous Online Player of the Year (OPOY) qualifying cash, an 18th-place finish in a recent Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan for $754. Apparently that was enough momentum to propel Kadabra to his first FTOPS victory .

A frequent face on the live tournament circuit, Marco "CrazyMarco" Johnson made a run at the title, but was derailed late. Johnson, a current Las Vegas roommate of Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby, was eliminated 17th for a $4,123.25 cash. He was ranked 40th in the OPOY standings prior to the tournament.

Here are the final results:

  1. Kadabra: $147,099
  2. Jeezy888: $89,048
  3. The_Closer3: $58,310
  4. Mattman14: $45,815
  5. scarr09: $34,403
  6. Chipgoon: $25,490

The second event starts Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET. It is $200+$16 H.O.R.S.E., hosted by David Singer.
