The World Series of Poker has new criteria to determine who wins the WSOP Player of the Year.
The WSOP Player of the Year won't include finishes in the main event and the H.O.R.S.E. championship. All other events will count.
The top 10 percent of each field will receive at least five POY points. The rest of the points breaks down this way:
- First place is worth 100 points
- Second place is worth 75,
- Third place is worth 60
- Fourth place is worth 55
- Fifth place is worth 50
- Sixth place is worth 45
- Seventh place is worth 40
- Eighth place is worth 35
- Ninth place is worth 30.
- Tenth place through 18th is worth 20 points each
- Nineteenth place through 27th is worth 10 points each
- All other in-the-money finishers will earn 5 points
If at the end of the WSOP, a tie occurs between two or more people, the WSOP Player of the Year will be determined by total cash won this year.
