PokerStars Sunday Million

Like the other two major non-FTOPS tournaments last night, the PokerStars Sunday Million tournament's entry numbers saw a sharp decline compared with last weekend, likely due to Mother's Day. The Sunday Million had 5,918 entrants, down 749 from last weekend's 6,667. Nevertheless, the tournament's prize pool came to a respectable $1,183,600.

Ocrowe had a very decent chip lead going into the final table with $14.2 million in chips. His next-closest competitor, DuyTheMaster, had $7.9 million while the table's short stack was drahma, with $1.8 million. The very first hand of the final table claimed the first victim.

Chimpy07 open-pushed all in for $2.2 million, with the big blind at $200,000, and DuyTheMaster called and showed pocket nines. Chimpy07 was in bad shape with pocket sixes as the board ran out A 9 8 K K, giving DuyTheMaster an unneeded full house to send chimpy07 to the rail in ninth place ($7,812).

Drahma managed to nurse his short stack for 15 more minutes before pushing all in preflop. Hold em 888 called and showed A 9 and was dominating drahma's A 7. The board bricked out and Hold em 888's 9 kicker played to eliminate drahma in eighth place, for $12,428.

Mcc3991 went down to the felt just four minutes later in a hand in which he raised to $750,000 preflop with the big blind at $250,000. Himclip85 reraised all in for $6.9 million and mcc3991 called all in for his $2.9 million stack. Mcc3991 showed pocket aces and was well ahead of Himclip85's pocket jacks. The flop changed all of that when it came K J 3, giving Himclip85 a set of jacks. The turn was the 6 and the river the 2 and mcc3991 was out in seventh place ($20,713).

It was almost a half hour before another player was eliminated. Kattkroken open-pushed all in from the small blind for $3.1 million (with the big blind at $400,000) when the action folded to him preflop and ocrowe called in the big blind. Ocrowe showed K 4 and was trailing kattkroken's A 9. The board ran out 10 7 5 K 8, completely missing kattkroken but giving ocrowe a pair of kings on the turn to win the pot. Kattkroken collected $28,998 for sixth place.

Bachelor_80 pushed all in soon thereafter for $4.4 million from under the gun and Himclip85 reraised all in from the small blind, folding bachelor_80's one other caller. Himclip85 showed pocket eights and bachelor_80 revealed 9 8 for a dominated hand. The board paired, but otherwise missed both players, and bachelor_80 was eliminated in fifth place, earning $40,242.

In the next elimination hand, DuyTheMaster raised to $1.5 million preflop, with the big blind at $500,000, and ocrowe called in the big blind. The flop came 10 8 8 and ocrowe pushed all in for $6.6 million. DuyTheMaster called and showed pocket sixes for two pair and ocrowe turned over 9 7 for an open-end straight draw. The turn was the 2 and the river the 8, missing ocrowe's straight and giving DuyTheMaster a full house to take down the pot. Ocrowe, the previous chip leader in the tournament, made $52,078 for fourth place.

It was now down to three-way play and Hold em 888 held the chip lead with $23.2 million in chips. DuyTheMaster was just barely behind with $22.2 million and Himclip85 was in third place with $13.8 million. The three remaining players quickly paused the tournament to discuss a deal, and a by-the-chips chop was agreed upon with $30,000 remaining for the eventual winner. Hold em 888 guaranteed himself $111,519, DuyTheMaster was guaranteed $109,929, and Himclip85 was guaranteed $95,582.

DuyTheMaster missed out on the extra $30,000 when he was the next player eliminated. He min-raised to $1.2 million preflop and Hold em 888 called. The flop came Q 3 3 and Hold em 888 checked. DuyTheMaster bet another $1.2 million and Hold em 888 check-raised all in for $27.3 million. DuyTheMaster thought for a while before calling all in and showing K 6 for a flush draw. It turned out to be a good call when Hold em 888 revealed J 8 for a worse flush draw. The turn, however, was the 8, giving Hold em 888 a pair of eights to take the lead in the hand. The river was a blank, the 6, and DuyTheMaster was out in third place.

Hold em 888 now had $41.6 million to start heads-up play versus Himclip85 with $17.6 million. Himclip85 build his stack up to $27.1 million before the final hand. Hold em 888 called the $800,000 big blind preflop and Himclip85 raised to $3.2 million. Hold em 888 reraised all in for $32 million and Himclip85 called all in and showed A J. Hold em 888 flipped up a dominated A 3. The flop came K 8 3, pairing Hold em 888's three for a reverse-domination situation. The turn was the 10 and the river the 9 and Hold em 888 won the hand with a pair of threes. He collected the extra $30,000 to put his total winnings at $141,519.

The final results were:

*1) Hold em 888 – $141,519

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament's attendance went from a record-breaking 1,008 entrants last weekend to just 846 last night, likely due to the Mother's Day holiday. The tournament required a $30,800 overlay to match the posted guarantee.

VitaminABC was the chip leader when the final table began, with $518,000 in chips. Notable Internet player Joe "Dyzalot" Morneau was in second place with $403,000. Dyzalot's stack had surpassed VitaminABC's by the time play was fourhanded. In fact, VitaminABC's stack slipped just barely into third place behind Tony Pisser before the next big hand.

VitaminABC ($499,000) raised to $32,000 preflop from under the gun, with the big blind at $12,000, and Tony Pisser ($506,000) reraised to $105,000 from the button, folding the blinds. VitaminABC pushed all in over the top and Tony Pisser called and showed pocket queens. VitaminABC was well behind with pocket eights. The board bricked out until the river, which brought an unneeded third queen for Tony Pisser. VitaminABC received $13,000 for fourth place.

Unclwhoopass, the short stack at the start of three-way play, was the next player eliminated when he pushed all in with A 8 and was called by Dyzalot with a dominating A K. Kings came on both the flop and the river for an overkill elimination hand that sent unclwhoopass home in third place ($18,500).

It was how heads up and Dyzalot held the chip lead with $1.4 million compared to Tony Pisser with $718,000. The heads-up match lasted an unprecedented hour and 34 minutes. Both players held the chip lead at various points during the match, but Tony Pisser took and held a massive lead before the final hand.

Tony Pisser open-raised all in for $1.8 million, with the big blind at $60,000, and Dyzalot called all in for $281,000. Tony Pisser turned over J 9 and was slightly behind Dyzalot's pocket fives. The flop came J 10 3, spiking a jack for Dyzalot to put him in the lead. The turn was the 9 and the river the 2 and Tony Pisser completed two pair to take Dyzalot out in second place ($27,000). Tony Pisser very much earned his $45,000 first-place payday for outlasting Dyzalot in the epic heads-up match.

The final results were:

1) Tony Pisser – $45,000
2) Joe "Dyzalot" Morneau – $27,000
3) unclwhoopass – $18,500
4) VitaminABC – $13,000
5) naskoxx – $11,000
6) Moneyno20 – $9,000
7) JMellross – $7,000
8) wagstbc – $5,000
9) ubbulls – $3,500
* 10) YoungSupremcy – $2,000

* Player was not technically at the final table due to being eliminated in a double-elimination hand on the final-table bubble.

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

Attendance at the Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament took a sharp tumble on Mother's Day when just 666 players bought-in. That number was way down from last week's 810 entrants. Because of the low entry numbers, Bodog came out of pocket for a $33,400 overlay to match the posted guarantee.

Intervention was the chip leader in the first full hand of the final table with $362,000 compared to Jay "BigB1r" Koeller's second place stack of $330,000. Also at the table was Internet notable Jeff "HB_HITMAN" Anderson, in fourth place with $220,000.

BigB1r lost the majority of his stack in a big preflop confrontation where he called almost all in J-10 suited and was in deep trouble against his opponent's pocket aces. The aces held up and BigB1r was crippled. He was eliminated shortly thereafter when his Q-J suited went up against pokerskibum's dominating K-Q. He finished in seventh place ($3,500).

HB_HITMAN's stack had been at close to $200,000 for the vast majority of the final table. He finally open-pushed all in on the button with pocket tens when the big blind was at $20,000. He was called by intervention with A-Q and a queen popped up on the turn to put HB_HITMAN on the rail in fourth place ($6,900).

Pokerskibum had the chip lead when three-way play began with $805,000 in chips. Ozone23 was in second place with $433,000 and intervention was in third place, despite having eliminated HB_HITMAN in the previous hand, with $427,000. HB_HITMAN's stack was slowly whittled down until he had just $169,000. He pushed all in from the small blind and was called by pokerskibum in the big blind. HB_HITMAN held A 7 and pokerskibum revealed a dominated A 5. The board ran out K K K Q 5, spiking a 5 on the river for pokerskibum to take the lead in the hand and eliminate intervention in third place ($9,200).

Pokerskibum now had $965,000 versus Ozone23's $700,000. The tournament lasted just four more minutes, over which time Ozone23 gradually lost a decent portion of his stack. Pokerskibum limped preflop for $15,000 more and Ozone23 pushed all in over the top for $441,000. Pokerskibum called relatively quickly and showed A 3 and was in good shape versus Ozone23's K 5. The board ran out J 9 3 Q J, unnecessarily pairing pokerskibum's 3, and pokerskibum took down the hand to eliminate Ozone23 in second place ($14,300). Pokerskibum earned $25,000 for his first-place finish in the tournament.

The final results were:

1) pokerskibum – $25,000
2) Ozone23 – $14,300
3) intervention – $9,200
4) Jeff "HB_HITMAN" Anderson – $6,900
5) finchdog – $5,500
6) zurswierding – $4,500
7) Jay "BigB1r" Koeller – $3,500
8) TheLost – $2,500
9) Unita Beaten – $1,600
