Full Tilt Online Poker Series VI Event No. 3: $750,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em
The third event in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series IV (FTOPS IV) – a $300 buy-in, $750,000-guaranteed no-limit hold'em tournament – was a huge success. The event lured 2,995 entrants, generating a prize pool of $898,500, almost 20 percent more than the posted guarantee.
Internet pro hit21hit made a deep finish in the tournament, eventually busting out in 12th place ($8,985), just before the final table. Terry "Asiandude7" Eischens also went far in the tournament before being eliminated in 27th place, for $3,414.
Antplays was the chip leader when the tournament got down to the final nine players. Antplays had $2.2 million in chips compared to kice32 in second place with $1.8 million. Funkdawg was the short stack, with $330,000, but he avoided being the first player eliminated.
Funkdawg doubled up through RUSHMULLER in the very first hand of the final table, leaving RUSHMULLER with less than three big blinds. RUSHMULLER pushed all in in the very next hand and was called by HibachiMahi, who showed A
Q. RUSHMULLER turned over A
J and was dominated. The board paired, but otherwise missed both players, and RUSHMULLER was the first player sent packing from the final table. He earned $12,579 for ninth place.
Facefirat open-pushed all in for $409,000 less than a minute later, with the big blind at $50,000, and Homerindoors reraised all in over the top for $1.4 million, folding the remaining players. Homerindoors turned over A K
and was in a race against facefirat's pocket fives. The board ran out J 6
2 Q K, spiking a king for Homerindoors on the river to eliminate facefirat in eighth place ($16,532).
In the next elimination hand, lodscarface min-raised to $120,000 preflop on the button and Homerindoors called in the big blind. The flop came K 5 3 and Homerindoors checked. Lodscarface bet $180,000 and Homerindoors check-raised to $840,000. Lodscarface called all in for $520,000 and showed 7 5 for mid-pair. Homerindoors revealed a hefty lead with K 5 for a flopped two pair. The turn and river bricked out and lodscarface was sent to the rail in seventh place, for $21,025.
Skip1640 was the next to go when he open-pushed all in for $350,000 and was called by funkdawg. Funkdawg showed pocket threes and was in very bad shape against skip1640's pocket queens. The flop came 6 5 4, giving funkdawg a 36 percent chance to win the hand and take out skip1640 with any 7 or 2 (for a straight) or any 3 (for a set). The turn was the K and the river the 3, giving funkdawg a set to eliminate skip1640 in sixth place ($28,482).
Funkdawg had less than 10 minutes to enjoy his new-found wealth, as he was the next player eliminated. He raised to $330,000 preflop, with the big blind at $80,000, and HibachiMahi reraised all in for $817,000. Funkdawg called all in for $807,000 and showed K J. He was in a coin-flip situation versus HibachiMahi's pocket tens. The board paired, but otherwise missed both players, and HibachiMahi's pocket tens held up to basically double him up and eliminate funkdawg in fifth place. Funkdawg earned $39,534 for his finish.
HibachiMahi followed funkdawg out the door a little less than 20 minutes later. He raised to $250,000 preflop, with $1.7 million in his stack and the big blind at $100,000, and Homerindoors called in the small blind. The flop came 8 8 3 and Homerindoors checked. HibachiMahi bet $420,000 and Homerindoors check-raised all in for $1.5 million. HibachiMahi called and showed pocket jacks and Homerindoors turned over pocket threes for a flopped full house. Homerindoors' hand held up and HibachiMahi was out of the tournament in fourth place ($52,113).
Play was now three-handed and Homerindoors held the chip lead with $3.6 million. Kice32 was in second place with $3 million and Antplays was now in third place with $2.5 million. Three-way play lasted six minutes before the next elimination hand.
Homerindoors called the $120,000 big blind from the small blind preflop and Antplays min-raised to $240,000. Homerindoors called and the flop came 7 4 2. Homerindoors checked and Antplays pushed all in for $1.2 million. Homerindoors called and showed Q 7 for top pair versus Antplays' A 2 for bottom pair. The turn was the 3, giving Antplays extra outs with a straight draw, but the river was the 7, giving Homerindoors trip sevens to take down the pot. Antplays made $65,591 for third place.
Homerindoors now had $5.2 million as heads-up play began, compared to kice32's $3.7 million. Kice32 built his stack up to as much as $4.1 million before being chiseled down to $1.4 million prior to the final hand.
Homerindoors called the $160,000 big blind preflop and kice32 checked his option. The flop came 10 8 8 and kice32 checked. Homerindoors bet $160,000 and kice32 check-raised all in for $1.2 million. Homerindoors quickly called and showed Q 8 for trip eights and was well ahead of kice32's 10 4 two pair. The turn was the 6 and the river the A and Homerindoors raked in the final pot to put kice32 out in second place ($100,632). Homerindoors cashed out for the $164,426 first-place prize. He also earned an exclusive gold FTOPS jersey avatar for winning the event.
