PokerStars Sunday Million
The PokerStars Sunday Million tournament had 6,667 entrants last night, generating a prize pool of $1,333,400.
JB_Dog had a huge chip lead when the final table got underway. He had $28.5 million, almost 43 percent of the total chips in play. His next-closest competitor, Assassinater, had just $8.2 million. Oceania99 was the short-stacked player with just $1.8 million when the big blind was $300,000.
Oceania99, however, was not the first to go. In the first elimination hand, JB_Dog (who had lost a decent chunk of his stack, and now had $21 million) raised to $900,000 preflop and Assassinater called. The flop came 7
3
2
and JB_Dog bet $1.5 million. Assassinater raised all in over the top for $7.6 million. JB_Dog called and showed A
J
for overcards and a flush draw. Assassinater turned over pocket tens with one spade for the lead in an almost perfect coin-flip situation (50.2 percent chance to win for Assassinater versus JB_Dog's 49.8 percent chance). The turn put out a fourth spade with the K
, giving both players a flush but JB_Dog the higher flush to take down the pot and eliminate Assassinater in ninth place ($8,267).
Copi was the next to go when he raised to $2.4 million preflop, with the big blind at $400,000, leaving himself with less than $400,000 behind. Colombo218 went all in over the top, having copi covered, and copi called and showed A
K
. Colombo218 held a dominating lead with pocket aces. The board bricked out and copi was eliminated in eighth place, earning $13,334.
EndlessJ met his end five minutes later. He pushed what little remained of his stack, $1.5 million, all in preflop and was reraised by JB_Dog, who folded the remaining players. JB_Dog turned over A J
and had a good lead versus EndlessJ's A
6. The board ran out K
K 10
5
Q
, giving JB_Dog an unneeded straight to take out EndlessJ in seventh place ($22,001).
In the next elimination hand, TheSeraph min-raised to $1 million preflop and Cougfan1987 reraised all in for $1.2 million. TheSeraph called and showed A
4
and was dominating Cougfan1987's 4 3
. The board ran out 9 6
5
9
A, spiking an unnecessary ace on the river for TheSeraph to take down the pot. Cougfan1987 took home $30,668 for sixth place.
Oceania99 was out the door just two minutes later when he pushed all in preflop for his last $1.2 million, when the big blind was $500,000, and was called by berdyfish in the big blind. Berdyfish flipped up 8 2
and oceania99 held A
7
for the lead. The flop came K
K
2, giving berdyfish two pair to take over the lead in the hand. The turn was the J
and the river the 2
, completing an unneeded full house for berdyfish to eliminate oceania99 in fifth place, for $42,802.
Colombo218's leads dried up when he was the next to go. He open-pushed all in preflop for $3.8 million and was called by TheSeraph, who showed A
9
. Colombo218 held J 9
and was in bad shape. The board ran out 10 6
3 8
6, pairing, but otherwise improving neither player, and TheSeraph's ace kicker was enough to send Colombo218 packing in fourth place with $56,003.
JB_Dog still held a rather massive chip lead when three-handed play began. He had $46.7 million in chips, which equated to 70 percent of the chips in play. Berdyfish was in second place with $10.5 million, just barely ahead of TheSeraph, in third with $9.4 million. After more than 10 minutes of three-way play, TheSeraph was the only player with fewer chips than he started threehanded play with; he was down to just $2.8 million.
He pushed all in preflop and was called by JB_Dog, who flipped up A
2. TheSeraph turned over Q
10
and was just barely behind with a 47 percent chance to win the hand. That all changed when the flop came A
7
3
, giving TheSeraph a flush draw but furthering JB_Dog's chances of winning to 65 percent with top pair. The turn was the 7
and the river the 5
and TheSeraph was sent to the virtual rail in third place ($71,870).
JB_Dog now had $52.7 million compared to berdyfish's $14 million. After five minutes of heads-up play, the stacks were virtually back to where they started when the heads-up match began. Berdyfish raised to $2.4 million preflop, with the big blind now at $600,000, and JB_Dog pushed all in over the top. Berdyfish called all in and showed K 9
and was in big trouble against JB_Dog's A
K
. The flop came A
Q
10
, giving berdyfish some outs to tie for the pot with any jack. The turn and river, however, were running deuces, and JB_Dog collected the final pot of the tournament with two pair, aces up. Berdyfish made $99,872 for second place while JB_Dog pocketed a huge $191,743 payday for first place in the event.
The final results were:
1) JB_Dog – $191,742.92
2) berdyfish – $99,871.66
3) TheSeraph – $71,870.26
4) Colombo218 – $56,002.80
5) oceania99 – $42,802.14
6) Cougfan1987 – $30,668.20
7) EndlessJ – $22,001.10
8) copi – $13,334
9) Assassinater – $8,267.08
Full Tilt $400,000 Guarantee
The Full Tilt $400,000-guaranteed tournament lured 2,350 entrants last night, building a prize pool of $470,000. That attendance number was very close to the 2,334 entrants of the week before and the 2,340 of the week before that, indicating that the tournament's entry numbers may have reached a plateau of sorts, at least for the time being.
Notable Internet pro Josh "pbdrunks" VanDuyn held the chip lead with $1.7 million in chips in the first full hand of the final table. His next-closest rival, Marco725, had $1.3 million in chips. Both pbdrunks and Marco725 made it down to three-way play, along with KanyeSouth. Pbdrunks held the chip lead again, after having lost it at one point during the final table action, with $3.7 million. KanyeSouth was in second place with $2.8 million and Marco725 was far behind with just $520,000.
Corresponding to his stack, Marco725 was the next player eliminated, 15 minutes into three-handed play. He pushed all in preflop for his stack of now $694,000, with the big blind at $60,000, and was called by KanyeSouth in the big blind. Marco725 revealed K
Q
and KanyeSouth turned over A J
for the lead. The flop killed the suspense when it came 9
4
3
, giving KanyeSouth the nut flush and leaving Marco725 drawing dead. Marco725 collected $34,639 for third place.
KanyeSouth pulled into the chip lead with Marco725's elimination. He now had $3.7 million compared to pbdrunks' $3.3 million. Pbdrunks retook the chip lead after six minutes of heads-up play and sat with $3.8 million. KanyeSouth min-raised to $160,000 preflop and pbdrunks called. The flop came Q
10
5
and pbdrunks checked. KanyeSouth bet $160,000 and pbdrunks called. The turn was the 3
and pbdrunks again checked. KanyeSouth led out again, this time for $320,000, and pbdrunks reraised to $820,000. KanyeSouth called and the turn was the 6. Pbdrunks led out this time, betting $2.3 million, enough to put KanyeSouth all in, and KanyeSouth called. Pbdrunks showed 9
4
for a turned flush and KanyeSouth revealed K
7
for a better flush to take down the pot, double up, and severely cripple pbdrunks.
Pbdrunks was left with just $544,000 and pushed all in in the very next hand. KanyeSouth called and showed K 6
. He found that he was dominated by pbdrunks' K 8
. That domination was reversed, however, when the flop came Q
J
6
, giving KanyeSouth a pair with his 6. The turn and river were the 7
and the J
and pbdrunks was eliminated in second place ($52,922). KanyeSouth raked in the final pot to earn the first-place payday of $86,222.
The final results were:
1) KanyeSouth – $86,221.50
2) Josh "pbdrunks" VanDuyn – $52,922
3) Marco725 – $34,639
4) JOHNNYBELL – $27,636
5) j4f2h0 – $20,915
6) mx4ever – $15,040
7) luckbox – $11,045
8) dknykiller – $8,648
9) thugmoneymkr – $6,580
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
This Sunday was historic for UltimateBet when 1,008 players entered its $200,000-guaranteed tournament. That number meant the tournament surged past its posted guarantee (and thus avoided an overlay) for just the second time ever. The first time it happened (Jan. 14, 2007), the tournament had 1,006 entrants, meaning that last night's attendance was also record-breaking for the tournament. The prize pool came to $201,600, and the first-place prize actually went down from the normal $45,000 to $44,352 because the tournament fell into a different prize-distribution tier than usual.
Moseley9 was the commanding chip leader as the final table began with $717,000 in chips compared to Loeppenthin in second place with $387,000. Loeppenthin finished in third place ($18,000) in this tournament just last weekend, making for two final tables in a row in this event.
Both of those two players carried their stacks into three-way play, along with RML0422, who told Card Player in the chat box that his name was Ryan LeWinter. Moseley9 still had the chip lead as three-handed play began, with $1.3 million in chips. RML0422 was sitting in second place with $887,000 and Loeppenthin was on track to make his second third-place finish in a row with a third-place-worthy stack of $337,000.
Loeppenthin did, in fact, become the next player eliminated just five minutes into three-way play. RML0422 limped in the small blind, with the big blind at $20,000, and Loeppenthin checked his option. The flop came A
7
5
and RML0422 checked. Loeppenthin bet $35,000 and RML0422 check-raised up to $151,000. Loeppenthin reraised all in for $351,000 total and RML0422 called and showed A K
for top pair, top kicker. Loeppenthin revealed that he was dominated with his A
2. The turn was the 5
and the river the 4
, and Loeppenthin went out in third place. He made $17,942 for his finish, putting his total winnings at barely less than $36,000 in just over a week from this tournament alone.
It was now heads up, and moseley9 still held the chip lead with $1.7 million compared to RML0422's $868,000. RML0422 failed to make any progress before the final hand, six minutes later. RML0422 ($372,000) raised to $50,000 preflop and moseley9 ($2.1 million) pushed all in over the top, having RML0422 well-covered. RML0422 called all in and showed A Q
and found that he was in the lead against moseley9's K
J
. The flop came Q 8
2
, excellent news for RML0422, as it put him further in the lead with his pair of queens and gave him an 85 percent chance to double up in the hand. The turn was the 6 and the river the K
, giving moseley9 the pair of kings that he needed to eliminate RML0422 and win the tournament. RML0422 earned $25,966 for second place while moseley9 raked in a $44,352 payday for winning the tournament.
The final results were:
1) moseley9 – $44,352
2) Ryan "RML0422" LeWinter – $25,966.08
3) Loeppenthin – $17,942.40
4) tigercat17 – $13,104
5) TheNateDogg3 – $10,584
6) mhrep – $8,467.20
7) dannysek – $6,451.20
8) TulsaJ – $4,536
9) m0nr0e360 – $3,427.20
10) shinytop – $2,016
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament found 810 entrants on Sunday, exactly as many as the weekend before. This attendance number was, as usual, lower than necessary to match or surpass the posted guarantee, and thus the tournament required an overlay of $19,000.
Joe 8877 held the chip lead for the first hand of the final table with $585,000 in chips. Heinz57 was trailing him with $337,000 in second place and madkey was in third place with $240,000. Those three made it to the final four players along with Killa_Tyven, who had nursed a very short stack throughout much of the table.
Killa_Tyven outlasted yet another player when Heinz57 went all in preflop as the short stack with pocket threes and madkey called with 10-6 suited. A 6 came on the flop and Heinz57 was out in fourth place ($6,500).
Now, with three players remaining, Joe 8877 still had the chip lead, as he had throughout the entire final table, with $1.3 million in chips. Madkey was in second place with $512,000 and Killa_Tyven was still hanging on in third place with $263,000.
Killa_Tyven was out just three minutes later. Joe 8877 raised to $76,000 preflop, with the big blind at $20,000, and Killa_Tyven pushed all in over the top for $225,000. Joe 8877 called and showed Q 10
and found that he was dominated by Killa_Tyven's A Q
. Dominated, that is, until the flop came J
10
6, giving him a pair of tens and a 66 percent chance to eliminate Killa_Tyven. The turn was the 8
and the river the 6
, and Killa_Tyven was eliminated in third place, for $9,000.
Joe 8877 now had $1.6 million versus madkey, with $454,000. The tables turned rather quickly when madkey won two big hands. In the first, madkey called all in on a flop of J 4
4
and showed 8
4 for trip fours. Joe 8877 held just 10
7
and the turn and river failed to catch him up. However, Joe 8877 still had a smallish 1.3-to-1 chip lead over madkey after the hand. Madkey took over the chip lead when Joe 8877 folded a big pot to madkey after madkey raised all in on the river of a board reading Q 3
3
2 6
.
Madkey now had $1.4 million versus Joe 8877 with $656,000, and it was barely over a minute before the final hand. Madkey raised to $96,000 preflop, with the big blind at $30,000, and Joe 8877 reraised all in for his remaining $503,000. Madkey quickly called and showed A
Q
and was a 65 percent favorite to win the hand versus Joe 8877's K
9
. The flop came K
2 2
, giving Joe 8877 the lead in the hand and a commanding 82 percent chance to survive and double up. The turn was a blank, the 6, and the river the A
, spiking one of the two outs that madkey needed to win the hand and the tournament. Joe 8877's domination of the final table came to an end and he collected $14,000 for second place. Madkey pocketed $25,000 for his first-place finish.
The final results were:
1) madkey – $25,000
2) Joe 8877 – $14,000
3) Killa_Tyven – $9,000
4) Heinz57 – $6,500
5) eljay85 – $5,400
6) BlindCloud – $4,400
7) Petez – $3,400
8) teamflushdraw – $2,400
9) El Cubanito – $1,550
