Politico reported that several foreign online gambling sites have so far taken bets worth hundreds of thousands of dollars on Trump leaving the White House before his four-year term is finished.
At British online gaming platform Ladbrokes, the odds of Trump either resigning or being impeached currently stand at 11:10. So, almost even money.
Padddy Power, which is based in Ireland, has impeachment odds in year one at 4:1. In November, Paddy Power had him at 10:1 to be successfully impeached during his term.
“From a betting perspective, Donald Trump’s presidency has triggered a massive boom for these kinds of markets,” Ladbrokes said. “With Donald Trump, everything he does, it can be turned into speculation, and that can be turned into gambling.”
An estimated $250 million was bet on the 2016 U.S. presidential election in the U.K., a country which also regulates online sports betting. Both activities are prohibited in the United States.
