As the 2025 World Series of Poker $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event hurtles towards its climactic conclusion, it has already cemented its place in history. This year’s world championship is already guaranteed to be at least the fourth-largest field ever in the tournament’s 56-year run, with room to grow.
There have already been 8,694 entries made through the first four starting flights, with late registration open through the first two levels for day 2ABC and day 2D. That means that players looking to get in on the action will have until roughly 4:40 PM on Monday, July 7 to take a seat.
Only the 2024 (10,112 entries), 2023 (10,043 entries) and 2006 (8,773 entries) ended with more buy-ins than this tournament has already notched. A podium showing seems incredibly likely, as well, as that would require just 80 total day 2 late registrants. In 2024, 824 entries were made during the day 2 late registration periods.
New Record Probably Not In The Cards

While the current numbers are impressive, surpassing the 2024 record field will require a significant surge in Day 2 registrations. Last year, 9,288 entries were accounted for by the end of the four Day 1 flights. This year’s event will need an even stronger showing to challenge the all-time high.
The 2024 WSOP main event finished with 10,112 total entries for a final prize pool of over $94 million. Jonathan Tamayo emerged victorious in the end, securing the $10,000,000 top prize and his first gold bracelet.
With $9,300 from each buy-in counting towards the prize pool, more than $80.8 million is set to be awarded already, with that total likely to grow considerably by the time registration closes for good.
The four starting flights completed so far in 2025 looked as follows when compared with last year’s record pace:
Day 1A – 923 (up 0.9 percent from 915 in 2024)
Day 1B – 1,096 (up 31.9 percent from 831 in 2024)
Day 1C – 1,678 (down 33.6 percent from 2,528 in 2024)
Day 1D – 4,997 (down 0.3 percent from 5,014 in 2024)
