New Jersey Internet Gambling Win Jumps 17.3 Percent In September

Online Poker Revenue Falls 15.1 Percent

Gaming revenues for New Jersey-licensed online gaming sites totaled $12,025,679 in September, compared to $10,248,370 in September 2014, according to figures released late last week by Garden State gaming regulators. That was an increase of 17.3 percent year-over-year.

Revenue from peer-to-peer online poker was $1,771,123, down from $2,085,295 in September 2014. Year-to-date online poker revenue has fallen to $17,961,719 from $23,159,427.

Year-to-date online gaming win was $108,749,402 through September, up 15.8 percent from the $93,916,855 during the same period in 2014.

Thanks to a 9.9-percent drop in overall gaming win (live and online) in September compared to the same month last year, year-to-date gaming win for Atlantic City casinos stood at $1,962,660,501, down from $2,141,900,543 from the same period in 2014.

Atlantic City lost a handful of casinos last year, so if you discount the ones that closed, gaming win is actually up 4.1 percent from the first nine months of the year.

On Sept. 30, New Jersey regulators announced that PokerStars and Full Tilt had been approved to offer online gambling to those physically located within the state. PokerStars is the world’s largest online poker site in terms of traffic.

Overall gambling revenue in Atlantic City would be given an even bigger boost if the state ever clears the legal hurdles necessary to see sports books at casinos. Earlier this month, the Garden State was granted a full hearing from the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia over its challenge to a federal law that bans sports betting outside of four states.
