Isle of Man Olympic Snowboard Cross champion Zoe Gillings-Brier is the newest addition to PokerStars’ stable of sponsored poker players and athletes, the company announced last week.
Gillings-Brier, 30, has competed for Great Britain in three Olympic games.
“I love the adrenaline rush I get from snowboarding and often get the same sense of that when playing poker,” she said of the new deal. Gillings-Brier is currently training for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Other athletes that are currently sponsored by the Isle of Man-based company are Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, Ronaldo, Fatima Moreira De Melo and Marcus Hellner.
Like Gillings-Brier, Hellner is a winter sport athlete. He’s a Swedish cross-country skier who has three Olympic gold medals.
PokerStars just last week received a license to operate in the U.S. state of New Jersey. PokerStars has been away from the American market since 2011.
Canada-based Amaya Gaming bought PokerStars last year for $4.9 billion.
