Nevada Poker Rooms Win $8.5 Million In April

Revenue From Poker Falls 3.16 Percent Year-Over-Year

Poker rooms across the state of Nevada took in $8,511,000 during April, according to figures released this week by Nevada gaming regulators. It takes the state about a month to compile and release data from a month’s worth of gambling activity.

There were 70 poker rooms with a combined 652 tables during the month. The number of tables was the lowest since the 632 in March of 2005.

Revenue from poker has declined compared to the same month the previous year for 12 straight months. Last April, Nevada poker revenue was $8,789,000 when there were 719 tables. April 2014 poker revenue was an increase of 2.63 percent compared to April 2013. It was the last month Nevada saw a year-over-year increase for poker.

Nevada poker rooms collected $9.7 million in March of this year.

Overall gaming win for Nevada casinos was $897,925,000 in April.

The annual World Series of Poker dramatically increases the number of poker tables in Las Vegas, leading to the best months of the year in terms of poker revenue. The 2015 WSOP began this week and will run until mid-July.

June 2014, the only full month of WSOP action, saw statewide poker revenue of $15,163,000, thanks to 806 poker tables. Revenue per table also reaches its highest point in the summer.

Nevada began online poker in 2013, and revenue from the digital games are factored in. Nevada doesn’t separate live and online poker revenues because there are only two operators in the market, with a site from the WSOP being the dominant player. Nevada was releasing online poker revenue figures when there were three sites, but one of them closed last year.
